- Communicate effectively with students and prepare them for upcoming Gurpurabs and major Sikh events such as Guru Nanak Dev Ji Parkash, Vaisakhi, Nagar Kirtan, Gurudwara performances at Dashmesh Cultural Centre every last Sunday of the month, and school assemblies every Friday.
- Collaborate effectively with the Tabla teacher and other staff members.
- Create and deliver report cards on student progress twice a year.
- Communicate effectively with parents about student performance and progress.
- Participate in school events and committees.
- Provide indoor and outdoor supervision as required by administration.

● Teach Social Studies and Language Arts to Grade 8 and 9 students, covering topics such as Canadian history, geography, civics, and global issues for Social Studies and short stories, poetry, novels and plays in Language Arts.
● Understand the expectations of the Language Arts and Social Studies grade 9 PAT expectations to best prepare students.
● Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to create an interactive and inclusive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of students.
● Foster critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of social studies concepts through class discussions, group activities, and project-based learning.

Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Education with a specialization in Social Studies, Language Arts or a related field.
● Valid teaching certification from the Alberta Ministry of Education or eligibility for certification.
● Experience teaching Social Studies and/or Language Arts at the Grade 8 and 9 level or relevant grade levels.
● Strong knowledge of the Alberta curriculum in Grade 8 and 9.
● Passion for teaching and inspiring students, fostering their intellectual growth and love for learning.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
● Ability to create an inclusive and respectful learning environment that values diversity and promotes positive relationships.
● Familiarity with technology and its integration into the classroom to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
● Knowledge of Sikh history and culture is desirable but not mandatory.
● First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
