Some of the unique features of our school include:
- Sikh Faith, Culture and Values: Promoting Sikh teachings, traditions and values such as respect, humility, equality, compassion and service to others.
- Punjabi, Gurmat and Keertan: Providing compulsory instruction for students from Kindergarten to Grade 9 to develop their Punjabi language skills and understanding of Sikh teachings, Gurbani and heritage.
- Tabla, Harmonium and Shabad Learning: Providing opportunities for students to learn traditional musical instruments and connect their musical learning with Shabads and Gurbani.
- Daily School Traditions: Beginning the school day with Ardaas and O Canada shared over the school’s public address (PA) system, reinforcing a sense of community, reflection and belonging.
- Monthly Student Assemblies: Bringing students together to share their learning, recognize achievements and explore themes that support personal growth, school values and community. Students also showcase their talents and Keertan performances during assemblies throughout the year.
- Celebrating Our Sikh Heritage: Bringing our school community together for our annual Guru Nanak Dev Ji celebration in November and participation in Nagar Kirtan in May. These events provide opportunities for students to share their learning, celebrate Sikh traditions and connect with the wider community.
- Gurdwara Performances: Giving students opportunities to share their Keertan, Shabads and musical learning through performances at the Gurdwara.
- Learning Beyond the Core Curriculum: Providing opportunities for students to explore their interests, develop new skills and apply their learning in meaningful ways.
- Growth Mindset: Encouraging students to embrace challenges, learn from mistakes and understand that effort and perseverance help them grow.
